Hi:

I received a reference question about where to find a dealer for Jet
Navigation Charts from the 1950’s. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Dear Chris: Thanks for getting back to me. The JNC jet navigation charts are
new manufacture and would not be compatible (fit in) with the 1950s
issued stuff I wish to wall mount. If you know of memorabilia dealers who
might have the colored Lambert conformal conic ORIGINALS please let me
know. Jim Delaney

Hi Jim:

Your question was referred to me. I’m assuming you’re referring to the
Jet Navigation Charts. We have JNC-45 in the Map Collection.

The scale of the JNCs are 1:2,000,000 and they are about the size that
you mention, 40x50 inches. Is this what you are looking for? Below I’ve
included our catalog record. You said you want to purchase a copy.
EastView Cartographic has Jet Navigation Charts for sale. Go to their
website to order --
http://www.cartographic.com/xq/asp/topographic/maps/jet/navigation/chart/(jnc)/2m/navmode.w/rid.0/tid.1/sid.33/cid.10/vid.0/oid.0/mode.a/qx/hub/index.asp

In their website, it says they charge $19/sheet.

Dear Rae: Before the days of computers, Air Force navigators on both
transports and
bombers used paper charts to plot courses ---- get our planes from point
A to point B.
Unfolded they would measure approx. 40 x 50 inches. They were known as
JN charts;
I have several, but the one I seek for a wall display is JN45. If you
can refer me to a
source for Air Force memorabilia, I'll be grateful. JIM DELANEY, retired
USAF historian.
