Follow-up on Whit Alexander's question...there's a record on OCLC
(#7716139) for:

Peirce's world-quincuncial projection / compiled and printed at
Washington, D.C. by the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey under authority of
the Secretary of Commerce, 1945.
1 map : col. ; 58 x 114 cm.
Peirce, Charles S.

It doesn't say anything about air routes and note the spelling of the
last name. Holding libraries on OCLC are UCLA, LC and Frostburg State
University in MD.
