Hi,

I heard a review of the recently-published book, The
Island of Lost Maps, True Story of Cartographic Crime,
by Miles Harvey. Heard the review on National Public
Radio (Terry Gross show 9/28/00). Sounds like a book
the map community would be interested in. It is about
Gilbert Bland, the map thief who went around stealing
rare maps from Special Collections Departments and
Map Libraries. It has 405 pages with illustrations and
maps. It supposedly gets into the subject of rare maps
pretty well. Sounds like it would be a good book.
