Greetings,
 
I have a digitized copy of the 1:4 million scale 1988 Isachenko "System of
Landscapes for the USSR: Zones, Sectors, and Altitudinal Differences" map in
4 sheets of digitizer coordinates, tics, etc. I have been told by a source
that this map was likely based on the Krasovsky Projection (which in Arc
Info is Equidistant Conic with 2 standard parallels: (1) +50.6544 degrees
and (2) +66.7251 degrees, and radius of sphere of 6352193.8 m), however, I
do not have the actual paper copy of the map and do not know the longitudes
of origin or central meridians for the map or for the 4 sheets. I'm also
told that the same base map was used for all 1:4 million scale 'high school'
maps of the Soviet Union. Can someone out there corroborate this information
and/or enlighten us with the correct parameters for this map? Is there a
reference text which we should be using to check on the parameters for
various maps?
