 From another list:

The National Park Service (NPS) Geologic Resources Evaluation program
(GRE) has digital geologic-GIS data available (on-line) at the NPS Data
Store ( _http://science.nature.nps.gov/nrdata/_). Geologic-GIS data for
Booker T. Washington National Monument, Virginia (BOWA), as well as
Kings Mountain National Military Park, South Carolina (KIMO) are
recently completed products (of surface geology) that are in coverage,
shapefile AND geodatabase format.

At the NPS data Store, select "on-line data", either park from the park
list, and "geology" as the category. BOWA has one digital geologic-GIS
maps, whereas KIMO has four digital geologic-GIS maps (park compiled and
dedicated map, as well as component quadrangle maps). All digital
geologic-GIS maps are in WinZIP files (one per map per GIS format).

Geologic-GIS data for both "parks", in all three GIS formats, adhere to
the NPS GRE Geology-GIS Geodatabase Data Model. The GRE data model is
available (on-line) at
_http://science.nature.nps.gov/im/inventory/geology/GeologyGISDataModel.cfm_

FGDC (compliant) metadata is provided for all data layers and ancillary
GIS tables, as well as the digital geologic-GIS maps themselves.
