Hello all,

I wanted to get the word out to make sure we have a good field of applicants. We have an opening for someone who has both library experience and knows how to work with aerial photographs. The Position of Map and Aerial Photography Library Technician at the University of Oregon Libraries has been posted at http://jobs.uoregon.edu/classified.php?id=5462.

This position provides assistance to patrons using the UO Map and Aerial Photography Library (MAP Library). Duties include:
... coordinating Map and Aerial Photography Research Service (MAPRS), including answering photography reference questions and determining materials appropriate to the request; using extensive knowledge of the collection and specialized indexes and finding aids to conduct research; developing indexes and finding aids using print maps and ESRI GIS software; managing Aerial Photography holds and reserves; maintaining APRS billing database; training and overseeing students assistants in the retrieval, scanning, and refiling of Aerial Photography materials; maintaining statistics on MAPRS transactions; developing and recommending improvements to procedures and policies.
... assisting patrons in retrieval of maps, atlases, and aerial photography; responding to reference questions from governmental agencies, other libraries, and the general public; using expertise in locating and classifying cartographic materials to locate hard to find or restricted materials.
... maintaining the Aerial Photography Collection under the direction of the MAP/GIS Librarian; overseeing the housing of materials and replacing of damaged folders and shelving; assisting in inventory and weeding projects; assessing damage to cartographic materials and performing preservation activities; assisting in classifying maps; organizing and overseeing student projects.
... generating content and design for Aerial Photography web pages; assisting in maintaining MAP Collection website.
