MAPDATA NEWS Version1 Volume 2

1. GDT buys BLR and Wessex.
2. TIGER\LINE 97 errors not a major hurdle for mapping professionals.
3. US Digital Atlas 1999 exceeds expectations.
4. For interest sake.

GDT buys BLR and Wessex:
On September 1st, Geographic Data Technology Inc. (GDT) announced the purchase
of Business Location Research (BLR) and Wessex Inc. We recognize this is a blatant
attempt to consolidate the market and curb decreasing prices in the street and
demographic mapping industry. A detailed version of our perspective is available
at http://www.mapdata.net/press/pressGDT.html

TIGER\LINE 97 errors not a major hurdle for mapping professionals:
The much-anticipated release of TIGER\LINE 97 has been delayed as a result of
several error types in the initial release. At first this appears to be a major
blunder but, a more detailed look reveals few major hurdles. http://www.mapdata.net/press/pressTIGER-ERRORS.html

US Digital Atlas 1999 exceeds expectations:
MapData Online is the first company to release a comprehensive, enhanced mapping
product based on TIGER\Line. 97. Initial feed back has been very positive. Many
of our users have reported significant increases in the number of line segments
and address ranges over TIGER\Line. 95 street files. Initial benchmark results
show geocoding improvements as high as 40%. The average increase in full match
accuracy was over 18%. The final aggregate match score was an impressive 82%
versus only 64% for TIGER\Line. 95. http://www.mapdata.net/benchmark.html

MapData is now offering the US Digital Atlas 1999, which contains over 40 layers
of mapping information including enhanced TIGER\Line 97 files for the following
states: Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Montana, Nevada,
New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming. These files are available by
state, region or on a subscription bases for the national file. Contact MapData
or any of our resellers throughout the US and Canada. For more information visit
the home of the US Digital Atlas 1999. http://www.mapdata.net/products/us1999.html
