Joel,

FRBR is moving into cataloging in general. The replacement for AACR2,
the RDA, uses FRBR as the intellectual foundation. OCLC has febrized the
entire catalog and that may soon be appearing on Open WorldCat. RLG has
RedLightGreen that uses FRBR for grouping, I believe. There are some ILS
that can be set to a FRBR display.

Sincerely,
David Bigwood

These few questions arose as a consequence of some recent classwork. I
was wondering if the Functional Requirments for Bibliographic Records
(FRBR; http://www.oclc.org/research/projects/frbr/default.htm )
protocols are making their way into the world of cartographic
cataloging, either modern or antiquarian? Also, are there any ongoing
projects involving the approach? Part of this related to a recent U.
California position paper quite critical of existing exisiting
cataloging methods (
http://libraries.universityofcalifornia.edu/sopag/BSTF/ExecSum.pdf ).

Thanks for any information. Joel Kovarsky
