Dear sirs
My association, together the State Archive of Cagliari (Isle of Sardinia,
Italy) and an Association of Italian Immigrants in New York (Associazione
Shardana-Usa) are trying to organize an exhibition of original historical
maps of Sardinia, from XVI to XX century. At the moment, the pieces to be
showed are about 25, the oldest are Sardinia maps from Sebastian Munster's
"Cosmographia Universalis" (1550), and the ones from Ortelius's Theatrum
orbis Terrarum and Mercator (1589).
Is there an academic institution in New York interested to accept this
exhibition?
We'll start to look for sponsors and to organize the event only if we find a
suitable space for the event (exhibition for few days, one or two lectures,
on themes like historical cartography of Sardinia and desertification risks
in Mediterranean area, and, of course, a buffet with Sardinian traditional
foods...).
