Miniature globe stole from Museum of the History of Science,
University of Oxford, UK

The theft occurred last Sunday, May 7th. [2006]
Unfortunately I have to alert our community to the theft, during
opening hours, of a small terrestrial globe from an orrery. We should
be very grateful to hear of anyone noticing this globe, which is rare
and so quite distinctive.

A miniature globe of the earth, diameter 2.75 ins (7 cms) by Richard
Cushee, 1731, made of plaster, with printed paper applied to the
surface, with added green colour. Inscribed, "A New GLOBE of the
Earth by R Cushee 1731". At least before being forced from the
orrery, the globe was in very good condition.
