Good morning Dreamweaver users,
In order to improve performance for Dreamweaver 8 (DW) installations,
the following changes should be made to the 'Site' parameters for "UWM
Libraries"
This change should be made to all DW installations, so please forward as
necessary within your departments. I hope I covered the majority of
users via this message.
top menu 'Site', then 'Manage Sites'
select 'UWM Libraries', then the 'edit' button
select the 'Advanced' tab
/turn on (check) '/Refresh local file list automatically' /
turn off (uncheck) /'Enable cache'
'OK'
What this does:
This will prevent DW from re-indexing and re-storing the contents of the
entire library site every time DW is launched or closed, which takes
several minutes due to the size of the library site (approx. 25,000
files). By comparison, just refreshing the list takes a few seconds and
the list will still refresh when a new file is saved, etc. There is
also a manual 'refresh' button at the top of the Files panel. The cache
feature is not critical considering the performance penalty, since we
are not using most of the site management capabilities.
