JOB DESCRIPTION:
 
Focused on Service...Positioned for Growth
 
A number of new positions have been created by the continued successful growth
of the ICL Integrated Mapping System Product, part of the ICL Utility Systems
Division. We are a small, informal group interested in getting the job done.
IMS currently has the following outstanding opportunities available in Reston,
VA.
 
Software Support Engineer
 
This position focuses on products within the Integrated Mapping System
portfolio. Tasks include interfacing with IMS development partners, call
logging and investigation, interfacing with the IMS development team in the UK
and USA, validating and distributing fixes and working closely with customers
to respond to technical queries. IMS is an object-oriented system written in C,
Java and SQL with tools and products at the leading edge of the technology.
 
The position requires initiative, flexibility and a willingness to learn. In
addition, the candidate should posses the following technical skills and
experience:
 
7 UNIX and Sybase software administration and installation
 
7 A minimum of four years working in a software support role is required
 
7 Knowledge of SQL, and/or any procedural programming language is preferred,
but not mandatory
 
7 An interest in demonstrating and/or delivering technical training is very
desirable but not essential
 
Software Engineers
 
These exciting new opportunities are for the development of existing and major
new parts of the Integrated Mapping System (IMS) and its viewers. The
successful candidates will work on the implementation of customized IMS
applications installed in large utility companies throughout the world. IMS is
an object-oriented system written in C, Java and SQL with tools and products at
the leading edge of the technology.
 
Development projects involve most aspects of the design and implementation
phases as well as product release, maintenance and support. The successful
candidate should possess the following:
 
7 A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent)
 
7 5 years' experience working in a software development environment
 
7 Knowledge of UNIX, preferably Solaris 2
 
7 A solid background in at least one procedural language such as C
 
7 Knowledge of SQL, C, C++ or Java is highly desirable
