Subject: Biblical/ancient world map software package?
Date: Fri, 29 Apr 2011
Dear Jeremy,

A couple of years ago, some kind soul informed the list of the following
website, entitled "Bible Geocoding: The location of every identifiable
place mentioned in the Bible."

Geonames are listed in the order they appear in the Bible (listed book by
book). And the producer of the site did us the wonderful favor of creating
.kmz files of all of the places for viewing in GoogleEarth (which are then
of course also easily converted to common GIS software file formats).
Here's the link again:

Best regards,

Geoff

Hi,

I have a faculty member in Religion with the following question: "Do you
know of a package or software with maps of biblically related things and
the ancient world more generally?"

Some in-house suggestions are http://www.bibleworks.com/ and
http://www.logos.com/basepackages

Does anyone recommend other products or have any opinions about these two?

Thanks!

Jeremy
