Subject: NY Soils Data available for Columbia and Rensslaer Counties

The Cornell University Geospatial Information Repository (CUGIR):
http://cugir.mannlib.cornell.edu has added two new New York county-level
Soil Survey Geographic (SSURGO) data files: Columbia Rensselaer Counties.
Metadata for these files are forthcoming. SSURGO data and metadata for five
other New York counties are also available: Clinton, Madison, Otsego,
Rockland and Seneca. Data for other New York counties will be added on an
irregular basis. The scale of these data are 1:12000 to 1:24000. Please
note that these are very large files--the largest being 65mb compressed and
220mb uncompressed. These zipped, tarred files include:

1) Arc/Info (.e00) polygon coverage;
2) set of normalized attribute tables and
3) README file that explains the content of each attribute table with the
use instructions.

To locate these files, use the browse by list or browse by map functions
and select the appropriate county and data set, or use the keyword "soil"
in the search box.
