I saw two web sites lately that seemed really useful (I don't recall
seeing
these on the list before but if so, a good reminder):

1. nationmaster.com

             great for world statistics. you can pick and choose which
areas
and statistics you want to compare.

2. mapsarea.com

             very good links to all sorts of maping, place names, map
sources, etc.
