about WW II survival/escape maps ("The MIS-X Files, on pages 44-50) with
a follow-up article (Silk Escape Maps: Where Are they Now?"
on pages 49-50).

There is an article on an issue of National geographic on that specific
subject, but I can not
recall the issue/date. I saw a copy of this issue for sale at the State
Historical Society of Wisconsin,
which is why I know of the article.
There is also a CD compilation of all National Geographics going back
several decades that
is available commercially.

Silk maps from World War II are discussed in an article by John G.
Doll titled "Cloth Maps of World War II" which includes a list of
"Known United States Fabric Maps, Charts an Other Cloth Devices of
World War II". It appeared in the November 1988 issue of the 'WAML
Information Bulletin' pages 23-35.
