Subject: Mark's maps reminded me

I LOVED Mark's essay (book oughta be as good, I'd think). Anyway, it
reminded me that when the 1970 Census came out, Dick Morrill was
appointed the special master to do the redistricting. My roommate,
Diane Manninen and I plus our friend, John Higgins, got to work on the
project for RLM and Diane even got her thesis out of it.

This jogged my memory about the following email that I received from a
SoCal friend and thought would give all you geographers a chuckle:

Please, keep in mind I was born in Port Townsend and I regularly visit
my Mom there.

To Washington State residents

That earthquake was just a warning. Now that we have your attention,
sell us your power, give us back our sunshine, take back your rain and
we'll stop the earthquakes.
