Subject: Winkel Tripel (Some News)

- Hi All,

My contact at NG Maps has passed on some news from the NGS about their
"World Reference Map". I have placed the info at the "Mapping News"
web page for your review. I have made some changes to the text and
added new graphics there as well:

BTW, while you are at the page don't forget to visit the "MicroCAM for
Windows" web site (A link is at the bottom of the page).

MicroCAM is a FREE mapping program sponsored by the Association of
American Geographers (AAG) suitable for use in the classroom to teach
computer based cartography.

MicroCAM does not currently support the "Winkel Tripel", however, I
recently gave the author of the program (COL Scott A. Loomer) the
projection's formulas. Check the download section of the site
occasionally, as an updated version of the program should be available
soon.

Scott and I have also discussed the need for lesson plans with Dr.
Paul Simon Anderson so that classroom use of MicroCAM would be easy
to implement.
