Subject: ICA conference/ ACMLA/ CCISA

Just a reminder folks, that the International Cartographic Association
conference will be in Ottawa this August. The programming looks
terrific, and you may update yourself on this by looking at

     http://www.geog.uvic.ca/ica1999/program.htm

These programs alone are fascinating, and draw my interest toward
Canada in August, but in addition, the Association of Canadian Map
Libraries and Archives will be meeting, and their programs are also
listed on the ICA site. All this programming, plus the exhibits, mean
that the latest in cartographic fashions will be on display. Come on
     up!

Finally, as posted previously in 1998, the Congress of Cartographic
Specialist Associations [CCISA] will meet to discuss the future of map
librarianship in an electronic and downsizing age. I hope to see a
published report come out of that meeting which will focus on policy
issues in a way you can use with your administrators as you plan for
     the future.

If you are a United States member of ACMLA and are planning to attend
the conference, or an ICA member from the U.S., and planning to
attend,do let me know. We will try to get together over dinner for fun
     and to get acquainted.
