FYI -- some of you may have seen Julie demonstrate this at the last WAML
meeting. It's an impressive collection, impressively presented.

Subject: David Rumsey Collection on the Web

The David Rumsey Collection is now online at www.davidrumsey.com using
conventional Web browsers such as Netscape and Internet Explorer. The site
now has over 2,300 very high-resolution digital images of maps, an increase
of almost 900 maps since our last update. By year-end, we expect to have
over 5,000 images online. Among the new additions are the Jefferysı
"American Atlas" (1776), Vancouverıs "Voyage of Discovery S" Atlas (1798),
Humboldtıs "Atlas Geographique" (1811), Burrıs "American (Postal) Atlas"
(1839), Coltonıs "Atlas of the World" (1856), and Kingıs "AtlasSof the
Fortieth Parallel (1876). The Web site is powered by the revolutionary
Insight Browser software from Luna Imaging, Inc., which enables the user to
zoom in on and pan around the maps revealing rich details.

All of our web functions have now been consolidated on one site,
www.davidrumsey.com. From this site, the user can access the Web browser
version of the collection or download the JAVA Client version.

Visit the collection at: http://www.davidrumsey.com.

Please let us know if you have any questions or requests.
