Geographic Visualization is a
multidisciplinary and multifaceted area of research that has enjoyed a
significant presence at AAG meetings for over a decade. Scientists with
interests in computer-enabled, animated, and/or interactive
visualization are invited to submit an abstract of a paper to present in
this year's sessions. Topics under the general umbrella of geographic
visualization (geovisualization) include, but are not limited to:
- tools and theories of visual analytics
- new representation forms (animation, glyphs,
multiple representations, etc.) for spatial or spatio-
temporal data
- cognitive and/or usability issues in
geovisualization
- visualization for the blind and partially
sighted
- integration of visualization with KDD and/or
geocomputation
- design of user interface layouts and/or
elements
- multi-user and multi-location
geovisualization approaches
- applying visualization approaches to
location-aware devices
- using visualization to understand very large
and diverse data sets
- distributed computing and other
computational solutions to
geovisualization problems
- use of cartographic techniques to visualize
abstract data (information
visualization)
- critical and/or social implications (costs
and benefits) of geovisualization
- successful applications of geovisualization
in real-world contexts
Please distribute this notice to any lists and
individuals that you think
may be interested in participating in these
sessions.
You will first need to submit your abstract to
the AAG via their website (<http://www.aag.org <http://www.aag.org/> >).
Upon submission, you will receive a Participant ID. At that point,
please forward your name, affiliation, title, abstract, and Participant
ID to either of the organizers above.
Deadline for submission is WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER
12. Note that this is one day before the AAG official conference
submission deadline (Thursday, October 13).
