Subject: Map / Atlas editing guidelines?

From: "Bartlett, Darius" <[log in to unmask]>

Dear Map folks

In a moment of weakness, and definitely against my better judgement, I
have agreed to take on the task of consultant map editor for a
proposed
new atlas project (The focus will be historical and thematic
cartography, more details will be available later, once the project
gets
under way).

I have edited written texts before, but this is the first time I have
ever contemplated editing a (carto)graphic collection, such as an
atlas.
I wondered if anyone out there might know of a good source of
guidance,
best practice, checklists of things to keep in mind, and/or any other
similar reference or "how to" materials that would help me do a decent
job of it?

Many thanks!
Darius
