Circular 1300 is a 48 page booklet describing, in detail, the National

to the map along with a geologic time scale for reference. There is an
index map showing geologic provinces and subprovinces in the
conterminous United States, and separate index maps showing the
provinces and subprovinces in Alaska, and the chain of islands that make
up the State of Hawaii.
The circular contains 14 satellite photographs showing:
· Appalachian Valley and Ridge Province near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
· Ouachita Mountains, Arkansas and Oklahoma
· South Florida and the Everglades
· The Mississippi Delta and New Orleans, Louisiana
· The Laramide Rocky Mountains
· The Grand Canyon, Arizona
· The Basin and Range Province, Nevada
· Mount Saint Helens, Washington
· The San Andreas fault at Point Reyes, California
· The Los Angeles Basin, California
· Glacier Bay and the St. Elias Range, Alaska
· Mount McKinley, Alaska
· The edge of the continental ice sheet in South Dakota
· Meteor Crater, Arizona
The last table in the circular describes impact structures in the United
States, which are the records of the Earth’s encounters with objects
from space, and ends with references and a word glossary.
