Subject: MAGERT Res.Libs.Coll.Mgmt.Discussion in Atlanta
Sender: Karl Longstreth <[log in to unmask]>

This is the discussion agenda for those attending the MAGERT Research
Libraries Collection Management Discussion Group, ALA Atlanta
Saturday 15 June 2002, 4:30-5:30, Hilton Cherokee Room

Thanks to David Allan for suggesting a topic, "the effect of the
widespread availability of digital maps on collection development."

Are you buying digital materials instead of print?
Are your budgets enhanced for this, or are you dividing the same funds
between print and digital?

Are you accessing digital maps and images remotely, and do remote sites
figure in your collection scheme? Are these remote resources cataloged
locally?

Are you allocating time to digital map discovery and acquisition?

How does this collection development relate to reference services?

After the meeting, those who are interested in further discussion of the
Sanborn Digital Maps, enhancements to that product, and possible projects
will be invited to join a short discussion with ProQuest staff.

Thanks,
           Karl
