Hello,

        After contacting Maps-L about the Gazetteer, I also used the
"contact us" form on the Ordnance Survey's web page to comment about its
disappearance.  I received the following reply.  There may be hope for its
reappearance yet.

        In the mean time, I have finished updating and revising the Place
Names on the Internet site here at ASU.  Check it out if you feel so

Thank you for your enquiry about this issue. We have had many about the
deletion of the gazetteer from the BTCampusWorld web site, and are looking
at the possibility of offering this service on our web site. We were
originally just the providers of the data for this service and BT programmed
it into the format that was used on their web site. Hopefully we will get
this up-and-running sooner rather than later now that we know how popular it
was (now that it has gone).
