DEMONSTRATIONS (Forsythe Room)
 
The Workshop Demonstration Area will provide an opportunity to workshop
attendees for hands-on application of material from workshop tutorials.
Several computers and types of platforms will be available along with experts
to assist in the use of a variety of software with an emphasis on Internet
tools.
 
CIESIN will also be demonstrating its Pathways development effort.  Pathways is
one of the next generation of Internet tools, offering access to a range of
Internet-based services.  Pathways currently provides access to:
 
Information Services
 
        o Thematic guides to global change topics
        o Guide to Internet resources related to global change
 
Catalog Services
 
        o Data Catalog System for searching and ordering data through the Information
Cooperative
 
Applications and Analysis Services
 
        o Explore and Extract software to facilitate working with U.S. Census Data
 
Communication Services
 
        o Bulletin Board Systems (BBS) which allow electronic information exchange and
discussion
        oClassroom Earth intended for use by educators and students
