                      CALL FOR PAPERS
 
The Western Association of Map Libraries (WAML) and the Association of Canadian
Map Libraries & Archives (ACMLA) will meet in joint session at the Unversity of
British Columbia, Vancouver, BC, from May 9 - 13, 1995.
 
An overall conference theme has not yet been established, but several sessions h
have been confirmed, and others are under consideration.
Confirmed sessions are:
         - Mapping the First Nations Lands in the Pacific Northwest
 
         - Environmental Mapping by Non Governmental Organizations (Panel)
 
 
Probable sessions are:
        - Current Trends & Future Directions in Map Collections
 
        - tours of GIS and high tech. installations in the Vancouver area
 
Possible sessions include:
        - coping with change for specialist librarians at the personal, professi
onal and organizational level
 
Papers on these or other topics relevant to map librarians are welcome. Please
communicate BY AUGUST 1, 1994 with:

OTHER GENERAL INFORMATION
 
Each association's business meeting will be held at a different time to allow
members to observe the other association in action. There will be the usual
reports and sounding boards, a gala banquet and a day long field trip. The
ice breaker reception will be held at the home of Frances Woodward, a long
standing member of both associations.
 
Other committee members are Frances Woodward, UBC; Janet Collins, Western
Washington Univ.; and Poh Chan, Simon Fraser Univ.
 
A block of accommodations has been reserved at the Gage student residence
complex in the heart of the UBC campus. The following options will be available:
single and twin rooms with shared washrooms; single rooms with private washrooms
; suites and deluxe suites.
 
Vacation and recreation possibilities in the Vancouver-Victoria-Seattle area are
endless, and people planning to attend the conference might want to add some
vacation time to their trip.
 
Further information will be available at the ACMLA conference in June '94, and
the WAML Fall meeting in September '94.
