WHAT?!?  You must have not been in the right frame of mind. I thought
this was a GREAT little book!  I'm not sure what "score" you are
referring to, but I thought it was a neat fictional trip into the
medieval geography legends and the psychology of map-making. Yeah, it's
a bit mind-trippy, but I didn't think that was so terrible. I enjoyed it
a lot.
 
The MapMaker by Frank Slaughter (another fiction about a mapmaker,
wrapped around the life of Andrea Bianco) also features Fra Mauro, but
he's quite different in this book. This one had some interesting stuff
about the techniques of navigation in the early middle ages (like the
use of the Al Kemal).
