          SPANS MAP

We have been using SPANS MAP for a while now. It's quite impressive
it can combine a spreadsheet with a sort of automatic update conncetion
to any maps or vectors( e.g. roads etc) that you have on your database.
Th cartographic quality is quite good even on a simple HP paintjet.
But I don't know if it is much use by itself.

We tned to use it this way. If someone wants a GIS databas eset up
with maps ( SPANS quadtree a sort of smart raster) vectors data etc.
We would digitize in the data and set up the maps and vectors/data etc.
using SPANS . Once the stuff is all set up the way the client wants it
we would set it all up in SPANS MAP ( which is hell of a lot cheaper
than SPANS) and let them query and run it from there.
But idf you need heavy spatial analysis I would not recommend you use
this package ARC/INFO or SPANS themselves would be bette
I think our SPANS MAP cost us 600 pounds sterling but that was academic
cost . I don't know what the full price is .
If you want more info feel free to contact me.

SPANS-MAP is a desktop mapping package that costs about $1,000 and
runs on OS/2 and maybe Windows. The package integrates a
spreadsheet, chart, a digital map and image data.

This package is produced by INTERA TYDAC. For more information you
