******* Apologies for cross-postings *********************

Hello,

We are thinking about purchasing a large-format (36") scanner
for our lab, for cartographic design as well as for some
limited archival work. We would like to be able to scan
oversize b&w air photos, land surveys in pencil, and linework
from maps, so we don't need major color capabilities (can't
afford color anyway), only good quality black & white and
grayscale. Does anyone have a recommendation or comments about
a particular brand that you are using, either for archiving
or cartographic purposes?

I am recollecting that there have been postings over the past
year concerning color scanners, but don't recall any grayscale
recommendations.

(This question is going to multiple lists, so I'll compile
and post the results to each.)

Thanks!

Margaret
