I have used this kind of dentritic maps in the past, thanks to the Atlas of Cyberspaces, to illustrate new kinds of geographic visualization. It would be nice, however, to have some geographic labelling, as the colour-classes are not always well descernible. Especially as some countries are grouped together.

According to the original message: Gold: br, kr, nl. At the opte.org website the colour for this group of countries, however, is light-blue! Red colour should be the net-addresses .mil, .gov, and .edu, but cannot really be distinguished.

With kind regards,

Jan Smits

Dear subscribers Maps-L,

With reference to the above, I take pleasure informing you as follows:

<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Internet_map_1024.jpg>

Partial map of the Internet based on the January 15, 2005 data found on

http://www.opte.org/maps/

http://www.opte.org/maps/

Each line is drawn between two nodes, representing two IP addresses. The
length of the lines are indicative of the delay between those two nodes.
This graph represents less than 30% of the Class C networks reachable by
the data collection program in early 2005.

Lines are color-coded according to their corresponding RFC 1918
allocation as follows:

Dark blue: net, ca, us
Green: com, org
Red: mil, gov, edu
Yellow: jp, cn, tw, au, de
Magenta: uk, it, pl, fr
Gold: br, kr, nl
White: unknown

I trust this information is sufficient for your purposes, in case you
require any additional details, please do not hesitate to contact the
undersigned.
