Hello,

As we've all been reading, the kind Johnnie Sutherland has retired from
his position at the University of Georgia.  Johnnie started Maps-L in
1991 and has been the moderator that entire time.  For 14 years, Johnnie
screened emails, distributed them to the list and kept Maps-L relevant
to the needs and interests of the map community.

It is with great pleasure that I announce my new role as moderator of
Maps-L. I have been a member of Maps-L for 2 1/2 years, and I've
benefited greatly from it during that time. I will keep the list running
exactly as it has for these many years - you need do nothing.  For now,
the list will continue to run through Georgia's listproc software, the
archives will remain the same and all other features will be unchanged.

Maps-L is still running so keep your announcements and questions coming.
I look forward to the future of Maps-L and to the continuation of this
online map community!
