Instructors, Librarians, and Technicians who provides geospatial
literacy instruction./*

This confidential study is open to any professor, instructor, librarian,
or technician who provides geospatial information instruction to
Undergraduates in Canada and the United States. Geospatial information
instruction includes teaching of cartography, map reading/analysis
skills, Geographic Information Systems courses, and the locating,
selection, and analysis of geospatial information (maps, GIS data etc.).

The purpose of this research study is to: evaluate and summarize the
current status of geospatial information instruction, to understand the
barriers faced by geospatial information instructors, and evaluate how
experts perceive the level of geospatial information literacy of their
undergraduate students. The analyzed results of this study may be
published, and the finding can be used towards the establishment of a
benchmark of Geospatial Information literacy instruction.

This survey has been authorized by the Ethics committees of the
Université de Montréal, and Concordia University. The survey will be
available online until May 7, 2010. This online survey, hosted on Survey
Monkey, will only take 10 minutes of your time. If you prefer to do the

INVITATION À PARTICIPER dans l’étude : L’état de la compétence
géospatiale des étudiants de1e cycle au Canada et aux États-Unis, menée
par Erik Dessureault de l’Université de Montréal et Rosa Orlandini de
l’Université Concordia.

Ce sondage confidentiel est ouvert aux les bibliothécaires, professeurs,
chargés de cours, chercheurs, et tout autre enseignants qui offrent
l’instruction géospatiale aux étudiants de 1e cycle au Canada et aux
États-Unis.

Cette étude a pour but : d’évaluer et résumer l’état actuel de
l’enseignement de la compétence géospatiale aux étudiants de 1e cycle;
de comprendre les défis affrontés par les enseignants de la compétence
géospatiale; et d’évaluer comment les enseignants perçoivent le niveau
de compétence géospatiale de leurs étudiants de 1e cycle. Dans le cadre
de ce sondage, nous avons choisi la définition suivante : la capacité
d'un individu d'extraire, évaluer, et interpréter l'information tirée
d'une ressource géographique. Les ressources géographiques peuvent être
des cartes et plans (sur papier ou en format électronique), des jeux de
données géospatiales, et des représentations 3D d'un espace géographique
(modèle numérique d'altitude, diorama, etc.).

Ce sondage a été authorizé par les comités ethiques de l’Université de
Montréal et de l’Université Concordia. Ce sondage sera disponible
jusqu’à le 7 mai 2010, et devrait prendre 10 minutes pour terminer.
