Under the direction of the Deputy Director, the librarian in this
position provides leadership and expertise in numeric and spatial data
services and serves as a member of information service teams providing
collection management, reference services and information literacy
instruction in a flexible, dynamic, service-oriented, collegial,
organization. Responsibilities: Responsible for leading, shaping and
directing the Center for Statistics and Geospatial Data, including GIS
(Geographic information Systems) and other numeric data programs at
University Library. Establishes and maintains close working
partnerships with teaching faculty and community leaders in order to:
1) identify emerging services and instructional needs; 2) aggressively
market library services and resources; and 3) undertake assessments of
service quality. Serves as a science and engineering subject
specialist with collection management and reference responsibilities.
Builds and maintains working collections provides document delivery
options and uses information technologies to support teaching and
research conducted at CWRU. Responsible for leading, shaping and
directing a GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and numeric data
program at University Library. Qualifications: ALA accredited Masters
of Library Science is required. Advanced degree in subject related
area is preferred. Teaching experience or coursework dealing with
classroom instructional techniques and theories. Minimum 2 years
experience in delivering consultation services and using networked
resources is required. Experience in designing and maintaining web
pages is required. Minimum 2 years collection management experience,
knowledge of budgetary processes, and experience with automated
library systems in an academic library is preferred. Minimum 5 years
relevant post MLS experience in a reference or public services
position in an academic library is required. Knowledge of GIS
software, including Arc View and/or other GIS and statistics software.
Knowledge of spatial data, databases, data structures and metadata
standards. Knowledge of instructional uses of
