Dear all

For those who don't know what "Oddens's bookmarks" is, Matthew Edney calls
it: "This is perhaps the most comprehensive and up-to-date of the
'canonical' lists of map and map-related sites. Maintained by Roelof
Oddens at the University of Utrecht, it is perhaps the best starting point
for any general search." (see http://www.usm.maine.edu/~maps/edney/links.html)

It was a long list with more than 800 links to maps, atlases, map libraries,
cartography sites and related matters. Its size was ca. 160 Kb and it took,
depending on your modem, sometimes several minutes to load.

With the help of my colleague, the well-known Peter van der Krogt, the site
is today completely renewed. It is no longer a single file, but a general
index file linked to 13 sections and about 40 subsections. Each section is a
separate file, so loading time is substantially reduced.
This caused however a move to another address:
http://kartoserver.frw.ruu.nl/html/staff/oddens/oddens.htm

(The old address will still work for some time, but it is advised to alter
your links and private bookmarks).

Special attention is asked for the (presumably) unique section of Carto- and
Geoservers, giving numerous links to further surfing on cartographical and
geographical sites.

Success with your search, Roelof
