Hi,

I have a friend who is interested in becoming a Map Librarian. He has an
undergraduate geography degree and extensive cartographic experience.
He is looking at graduate library programs -

My questions include:

1) given his focus, background and experience, should he complete a one-
year program or a two-year program? (yes, part of this is the old
question of the value of one-year versus two-year programs)

2) are there programs that emphasize map librarianship? (one-year or two?)

3) where would you suggest?

Please respond to me directly rather than the list and I can summarize
results if interested.

with appreciation and thanks in advance,

Janet Collins
