The "Archive of Census Related Products", located at

  ftp ftp.ciesin.org
  cd /pub/census

contains new files. Please read the files "archive.ann" and
"archive2.ann" for contents information on the entire Archive.

o Census Block Statistics Data from the Summary Tape File (STF1B).

The Archive already contained boundary files in the directory trees
/pub/census/usa/tiger/??/bnablk/ where ?? marks state postal codes.

From the STF1B database (Bureau of the Census, cdrom media) data
were extracted and written out in ascii CSV files by county. Each
record contains a polygon identification field (POLID) which will
match POLID from the boundary files extracted from TIGER92.

Population items include Total Population, Age, Race, and Hispanic
Origin. Housing items include Number of Housing Units, Tenure, Room
Density, Mean Contract Rent, Mean Value, and Mean Number of Rooms.
(Some data items are fairly limited in descriptive information).

The records also contain relevant information from the Geographic
Header Records. This information includes items such as area land,
area water, centroids, Metropolitan Statistical Area Codes, Place
  Codes, and Special Area Codes.

Also posted are "Zero Population and Housing Unit Counts" (zph)
datafiles identifying the non-populated census blocks. Geographic
  Header information is included.

  The directories /pub/census/usa/stf/us/[xblk,zblk]/ contain links
to all US files for convenient retrieval of all state-county files.
