According to the Jewish Shtetl-seeker (http://www.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/loctown.htm) the toponyms give no hits in Makedonia on either name.

Setaina, however gives 496 hits when all countries are searched. Many of similar sounding toponyms are situated in Bosnia&Herzegovina, Greece, Rumania and Bulgaria.

With kind regards,

Jan Smits

I am hoping someone can help me answer this question:
A researcher is interested in locating the third of three estates of Tsar
Samuel in the years 1004-1018 AD.
I believe they are all located in what is now Macedonia (former Yugoslavia)
but at the time the territory was Bulgarian.
She has located Prilep and Ochrid.
She is looking for Setaina (or Setena), which she says is south and east of
the other two locations.

I have checked standard paper gazetteers and many online sources for a town
or similar location.

Thanks,
Thelma Thompson
