Three messages on the public view of (map) librarians.--------Johnnie

The question can be put as where (map) libraries will be on the information
superhighway? Will (map) libraries be the major nodes the super highway
connects? Will they be rest stops along the highway. Will they be large
and small nodes just off the superhighway but with well marked connections?
Will they be horse buggies that are always being driven off the superhighway
by the big trucks of business and research???? Just how important are
warehouses to a superhighway?????? -----------Johnnie Sutherland

Linda, while you are at it, would you mind sending a copy to the "P.R.
Update" column of the Specialist, written by Lauren M. Emmolo and Mark
S. Serepca at SLA Headquarters? Of course, the address is:
Special Libraries Association
1700 Eighteenth St., NW
Washington, D.C. 20009-2508

Maybe if we attack this sort of image on a wide front it will convince
some of the ignorant idiots out there to "look before they leap".

Thanks,

Perhaps a good response would be another cartoon which reflects the hopes and
plans many librarians around Utah are having:

Imagine that overpass of the Information Superhighway with one of the support
structures being the library. The librarian saying to a surprised Al Gore
"You thought libraries being an important part of it meant something else?"
The library could have a big cable labeled "Hook-In" going up and plugging
into an oversized outlet. The sign by the library door reads "Open longer by
demand" and a line of people is going in. So any of you who may be artists
out there, please send me a copy.
