Subject: Re: Bordering Counties

Mike Flannigan wrote "Pike County MO borders Pike County Ill. Anyone know of
other cases where identical county names border each other across a state
line?"

Five county pairs are named for rivers: Vermilion IL/Vermillion IN, Sabine
LA/TX, plus three county pairs which others have previously submitted-
Big Horn MT/WY, Escambia AL/FL, and San Juan NM/UT. Surprisingly, only one
of these rivers forms a state boundary (Sabine); the other rivers traverse
the adjacent counties. Two additional county pairs: Kent DE/MD, Union AR/LA.
