Government and Map Division SLA members seeking to strengthen their role as knowledge thought leaders can look to strategic learning.

SLA’s Click U course on the subject, The Knowledge Services/Strategic Learning Link, (http://www.sla.org/content/learn/certificates/kmcert/kmcertificateprogram/KMKS02.cfm) begins Monday, February 9.

Organizational employees use strategic learning to strengthen their ability to manage change, resulting in a clear understanding of what they know (and what they do not know). With guidance from the company’s information professionals—SLA’s members—employees and managers learn both how to boost performance and how to define new objectives and goals for their work in the larger organization.

The Knowledge Services/Strategic Learning Link identifies how informal and formal training, learning, and knowledge-sharing activities influence the achievement of enterprise success. Based on Guy St. Clair's book, Beyond Degrees: Professional Learning for Knowledge Services, the course provides new insights for SLA members as they move into their enterprise-wide knowledge leadership role. St. Clair facilitate the course, with Dale Stanley. Steven A. Lastres, JD, MLS, Director of Library & Knowledge Management at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, will join the course as guest participant. Currently serving as Director-at-Large of SLA’s Knowledge Management Division, Lastres will describe his firm’s approach to strategic learning and join course attendees in an interactive discussion on February 19.

Registration (https://www.sla.org/content/learn/certificates/fees/kmreg/kmks02/regform.cfm) is now open for The Knowledge Services/Strategic Learning Link. Fees and discounts are listed at http://www.sla.org/content/learn/certificates/fees/index.cfm, and although courses can be taken individually, substantial advance registration discounts (http://www.sla.org/content/learn/certificates/fees/kmadvanced.cfm) are offered for the individual or dual certificate programs.
