          To MAPS-L and MAPHIST readers:
 
          Maps of Armenia and the Middle East, and maps in the
          Armenian language, are on display at the Armenian Library
          and Museum of America, January 21 through May 28, 1996
          (probably to be extended through July), 65 Main St. (at
          Watertown Square), Watertown, MA  02172.  Open Sun., Mon.,
          Tues., 1-5; Tues. 7-9.  About 25 pieces dating from 1680 to
          the present include an 1849 atlas, the first printed atlas
          in Armenian, published in Vienna, and a 1790 lunar calendar.
          A concurrent exhibit at the museum, "Van:  3000 Years of an
          Armenian City," includes maps of the city and region of Van,
          now part of eastern Turkey.  For more information, contact

          This and other map news of the northeast U.S. (exhibits,
          publications, meetings, jobs) are conveniently recorded
          together in the NEMO Newsletter, newsletter of the North
          East Map Organization, which comes out four times per year.
