Arthur Lakes Library, Colorado School of Mines

The Arthur Lakes Library at the Colorado School of Mines invites
applications for the new faculty position of Computer Services
Librarian.  The Library is in the process of acquiring a new
integrated library system.  Responsibilities for the position
include:  Administer and maintain the Library's ILS, LAN, website,
and other computer resources; recommend and implement new
technologies in cooperation with library staff and consortial
partners; work with staff to develop electronic access to
information; train staff and patrons in computer applications;
coordinate electronic product licensing; seek external funding
for electronic library initiatives; provide reference services;
serve as faculty liaison with collection development
responsibilities.  A strong public service orientation,
flexibility, and excellent communications skills are very important.

The Colorado School of Mines is a doctoral-granting institution
devoted to engineering and applied science, particularly in the
areas of energy, mineral and materials science, and mineral
engineering.  The Arthur Lakes Library is a specialized technical
library that supports the educational and research goals of the
Colorado School of Mines; it also serves as a regional center for
information in engineering and associated engineering and science
fields.  The library staff consists of 8 library faculty and 12
support staff.

The position requires a Master's degree in Library Science from an
ALA-accredited program or comparable education; and a minimum of
one year's experience with integrated library system management.
Knowledge of ILS maintenance and operations; knowledge of library
applications for microcomputers, LANs, client-server systems, web
page design; education or experience with hardware/software support
and computer programming; experience in cataloging or reference;
experience with instruction is preferred.  The applicant should
demonstrate potential for professional growth and development.

The base salary is $40,000, however, salary will be commensurate with
experience.
