Hi Paige;

Kappa is treating all of their component map publisher parts as
brands/imprints, but converting to a single ISBN prefix, 97807625.

As Kappa issue reprinted/updated maps, regardless of imprint, nearly all
of the re-issued maps have a new cover, and most of these, but not all,
also have a new ISBN number using the 97807625 prefix. For example, a
recent batch of maps that just came in included maps by Hagstrom (Camden
city map), Mapsco (Carlsbad), ADC (Cary), American Map (Champaign) etc.,
all with new ISBNs using 97807625. I checked several of these and it
looks like all of the maps with the 97807625 ISBN have Kappa copyright
notices on the maps.

There are a few maps that have just "Kappa" on the cover of the map,
such as their Casper/Cheyenne/Laramie map, which sure looks like a
Mapsco map although the Mapsco name does not appear anywhere on the map.
No idea of why a few of the early reprinted/updated maps were done as
"Kappa" maps. All recent ones seem to have an imprint/brand on the top.

Kappa is also reformatting the covers to a standardized cover scheme,
regardless of imprint - see sample below. The large color bar across the
upper 1/3 of the map cover changes with publisher imprint - Hagstrom and
Universal Maps are orange; Mapsco, American Map, and ADC are blue.

I can't help much with Ken's comment on "place." The phone numbers are
all PA area codes, but we've also had MI and FL addresses in the past
couple of years for Kappa. As far as I know all the Mapsco offices and
retail stores in Texas have been closed except for the Ft. Worth retail
store which is still open.

Cheers
Russell

New logo art across the top of the map. This is the same for all brands.
