On the 1:500,000 US Aeronautical charts, runways are shown at airports with
two symbols. Those shorter than 8062 feet are in circles, those longer than
8062 feet are shown as just the shape of the runways. What's significant
about 8062 feet? Various pilots and flight instructors I have talked to
don't seem to know.
