New Maps Added to the Japanese Historical Map Collection

687 new maps have been added on November 1, 2004, to the UC Berkeley,
East Asian Library, Japanese Historical Map Collection at
www.davidrumsey.com/japan

Highlights of the new additions include three large, rare map screens
from the 17th century showing Japan, the world, and the Tokaido Road.
Also included are all the maps and prints from Englebert Kaempfer’s book
“Beschryving van Japan,” published in 1729, as well as multiple
historical maps of most major Japanese cities and regions. The online
collection now numbers 896 map images.
