MIKE,

This has been a real pet peeve of mine for a long time. Your the First
person ever, I have seen mention it. I've posted querys to the corel and
publishing lists/news groups but never had any replys.

Anyway my work around. I just fit a bunch of lower case "l's" to a curve.
I choose a sans serif face, usually swiss light. You control your tick
length or height by the font size. You can control the tick spacing with the
character settings or by adding spaces between characters. You need to
estimate how many ticks you will need for a given length of RR. Once you
fit the text (ticks) to the line, you can take out or add "l's" (ticks)
as necessary. The major draw back to this method is the thickness of the
tick is dependent on the font characteristics. It's the one aspect of
the RR symbol specfication you do not have any real control over. But I
guess you could make a custom font with l"s of differnt thicknesses.

It's too bad that corel has such poor line controls. If we could just
get them to change the settings in the coreldrw.dot file to read decimals
instead of interger values, we would have no (rather fewer) problems.

If there are other suggestions I would appreciate it if you could post
them to me. thanks
