To Maps-l subscribers--
For those of you who catalog on OCLC, the following may be of interest
to you. I reported on this late last week. Please note, we have
already identified and fixed 115 records with incorrect 255 $c data that
were added during this time period. We still plan to identify the
records that were replaced during this time period with incorrect 255 $c
data as well as any newly added records where the characters appeared in
other fields.

------
To OCLC-Cat subscribers--
The problems that have been reported over the last couple of weeks with
bibliographic records that contain superscript characters were resolved
this past weekend. The fix also included subscript and Greek
characters. You should now be able to retrieve records containing these
characters, enter these characters without losing data, and update or
replace records with these special characters in WorldCat through
Connexion without receiving error messages.

There may be a few records you cannot retrieve if these records were
added to or replaced in WorldCat through Connexion while we were working
to resolve the problem. We are in the process of identifying and
correcting these records, e.g, map records with incomplete coordinate
information in field 255 subfield $c and records that have these
characters in other fields. If you find a record that cannot be
retrieved because it probably contains these characters, please email
OCLC’s Quality Control section at [log in to unmask] with the search key
you were trying to enter. In addition, if any duplicate records were
created because of this problem, we will merge the duplicate records as
they are reported.

Should you continue to have problems with records containing
superscripts, subscripts or Greek characters, please let us know.
Thanks for your patience while we resolved this problem.
