Internet Access to the
Canadian Geoscience Information Centre (CGIC)
Book, Report, and Map accessions lists
 
 
The CGIC Book, Report and Map accessions lists are now available on
Internet at no cost via anonymous ftp.  To connect to the ftp
server:
 
1.   Make an ftp connection to emr1.emr.ca  (or 132.156.36.1)
2.   At the user prompt, enter anonymous
3.   At the password prompt, enter your internet address
4.   Enter cd gsc/cgic to move to the directory where the files are
     stored
5.   Enter the command "get mapacc.dos" to retrieve the map
     accession list file and store it on your local hard drive.
6.   Enter the command "get monoacc.dos" to retrieve the accessions
     list for monographs and other non-map materials.
7.   Enter the command "get introlib.dos" to retrieve the
     "Introduction to the CGIC Accessions Lists" document which
     provides helpful background information.
8.   Enter the command "exit" to end your ftp session.
 
The lists will be updated every two months.

In the future, the accessions lists will also be made available
through the World Wide Web (http://www.emr.ca) and the NRCan Gopher
server.

Listes d'acquisitions de livres, de rapports et de cartes
du Centre canadien d'information geoscientifique (CCIG)
 
Les listes d'acquisitions de livres, de rapports et de cartes du
CCIG sont maintenant disponibles gratuitement sur Internet par
l'intermediaire du ptf (protocole de transfert de fichier) anonyme.
Les etapes suivantes vous decrivent la facon d'etablir la connexion
au serveur du ptf.
 
1.   Etablissez la connexion du ptf au emr1.emr.ca (ou au
     132.156.36.1).
 
2.   Lors du message <user> (utilisateur), tapez <anonymous>.
 
3.   Lors du message <password> (mot de passe), tapez votre adresse
     Internet.
 
4.   Ensuite, tapez <cd gsc/cgic> afin d'etre dans le repertoire
     contenant les fichiers necessaires.
 
5.   Tapez <get mapacc.dos> afin de recuperer le fichier de la
     liste d'acquisitions des cartes et de le sauvegarder dans
     votre propre repertoire.
 
6.   Tapez <get monoacc.dos> afin de recuperer le fichier de la
     liste d'acquisitions des livres et des rapports et de le
     sauvegarder dans votre propre repertoire.
 
7.   Tapez <get introlib.dos> afin de recuperer le fichier
     d'introduction aux listes d'acquisitions du CCIG (ce document
     comprent de l'information de base tres utile).
 
8.   Tapez ensuite <exit> afin de terminer votre session du ptf.
 
Une mise a jour des listes sera effectuee a chaque deux mois.
 
Si vous avez de la difficulte a obtenir une connexion au serveur du
ptf, communiquez avec Mike Mitchell au 613-996-2101 ou par courier
electronique a [log in to unmask]
 
Dans l'avenir, les listes d'acquisitions du CCIG seront egalement
disponibles par l'intermediaire de <World Wide Web
(http://www.emr.ca)> et par l'intermediaire du <gopher> du serveur
de RNCan.
