Hi, folks -

I'm finally catching up with my back reading and imagine my surprise
when I got to the end of the IEEE Spectrum (Dec. 2007, p 96) to find
their Technical Speaking (their version of a sort of op ed) article for
the month is entitled "The New Geographers". The author, Paul
McFedries, refers to mapmaking as "a quaint art that ought to have died
off at the turn of the millinium, if not before." At any rate, the
remainder of the piece is devoted to the "booming" business of digital
maps. Since you're all map lovers, I thought you'd be interested.
